... just plain and simple photography

This blog and photo blog is not going to bore you with any long talk on or about cameras, film, software, hardware, digital techniques, or any topic of photography. You are here to see photographs, pictures or images that I have taken at home in the beautiful, sunny, windy, rainy, sometimes stormy, twin island Federation of St Kitts & Nevis, set in the blue Caribbean sea.

What you will see in my photo album is my own personal presentation, or more like my interpretation, which may at times appear to have nothing to do with actuality or reality. I will not resort to any acts of trick photography and will only use the few software tools at my disposal to process my digital negatives as I see fit. I am not promising an experience unlike any other, but you will be the judge and jury of that.

For the photographically inquisitive and enquiring minds I will say this only once, and please don't ever ask again. Let me tell you up front that I am NOT an adobe photoshop fan, more like I hate it, however I am a great Canon fan and was once an Authorized Canon photo and camera dealer for St Kitts. I shoot with a Canon EOS DSLR in the RAW 99% of the time, and play with a few pieces of imaging software depending on my moods.

The short list of programs that I use include: Adobe CS2, Adobe Lightroom, Lightzone, Canon DPP, Canon PhotoStitch, Colour Science Image Editor, Pixmantec RawShooter Premium, Photomatix, Picasa, IrfanView. So now that you know my tools there is no need to ask me about technique. You are a smart person so figure it out, but if you are a photographer, and not familiar with these software tools then you need to check them out ASAP and see what your photography may be missing.

I know you like news, [which is now called information] so I will tell you that behind all this software stands an HP wide format DesignJet 5500UV printer with a Wasatch RIP for any in-house posters, prints, banners, enlargements, etc., onto photo paper, canvas, vinyl, and other photo and sign media up to 100-feet long. What we can't handle in house can be completed overseas like in the Caribbean, USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, UK or China. If you develop an interest in our media printing, please send me an email at kffphoto@gmail.com.

One other thing, I know that everyone reacts to images, pictures, photos, photographs, differently. My photographic interpretations may be cool and okay for me, but maybe not so to you. Therefore let me apologise in advance for any goose bumps, eye popping and hair raising experience that any of my images, photos, pictures may cause you, and advise that you use your mouse more wisely in the photo albums from now on.

If you are not privy to my walkabout photo snapshots blog do take a look at it here http://sknphotos.blogspot.com/. My ham radio hobby blog can be found here http://v44kf.blogspot.com/ I just could not miss this opportunity to plug it here. Access to my other photo blogs and photo discussion groups will be found elsewhere on this website.

If by now you have drawn the conclusion that I am "one old time photographer with an attitude", you are quite perceptive and very correct ... and now that you know, there is nothing that you can do about it. One day you will get to be my age and then you will KNOW all about it. I truly wish you a long, healthy, productive and prosperous life.

Have a great digital photography day, and check out the photo album.
