exercise, fitness, wukup
More and more I recognize that people in SKN are realizing that a workaround is the solution to many of the difficulties that they create for themselves or they allow others to create for them. Many people enjoy their survival by creating difficulties for others. Many people are unaware that other people are willfully creating difficulties for them. It is just how some people are from time immemorial. For example, there are some people who want you to feel their 'weight' so they have you come back tomorrow. It was in their power to serve you today, but no, they had to make you bow to their self imposed authority. Some people just have to play GOD. This is nothing new, but human beings were not designed with this in mind. Sorry, I got off on the wrong blog, this is for photography, but somehow they all tie in.
I was here a month ago, and the end of the year is no longer around the corner, but right upon us. We are counting down 2013, with twenty five plus more days to go, and when we awake tomorrow it is Jouvert morning. I know we are into Carnival and I can appreciate what is being done and what is going down, and I don't want to put a damper on anything, but I am still trying to FEEL the Carnival, like in times past. [The Carnival spirit must be high on helium]. Of course we live in a different time and age, and maybe while Carnival is loosing its sting for me, the youth of our day are all fired up and rearing to go. Carnival is a youthful experience, but some older folks are still trying to 'be youthful', and I am glad for them, but they should not try to outdo the youth, with more spring in their waist and hip. You just can't "wukup" like them. As for me, I am just walking along and snapping..
Last carnival the action was great, but I just did not get to capture as much as I wanted. This year I wish to capture much more, and I am working on my fitness, that is the key. Your level of personal fitness, no matter what age, will determine the amount of pleasure, fun and enjoyment you receive from feasting you eyes on the three quarter naked girls, women, ladies and men, doing a "wukup", like this is the last Carnival even in SK. But when you are into serious fitness you really learn to appreciate the female body, its form and its curves, as it develops. I think this year I could have a particular focus on the ladies who appear to take their fitness seriously. "Wukup" and jamming should be considered as exercise and fitness routines, but then that may put carnival in real trouble, in time to come.
Carnival is really about the jam session, especially after dark, whether on the street or in situ. I am of the view that every Carnival function should end with a jam session. After every show there should be a jam session, one hour, two hours, three hours, four. Start the shows at sundown, like at six pm, lights time, and end with a few hours jam session or go till three and four AM next day. The patrons want to be happy. Now a days the show ain't well done, the music done, chairs gone, the place in darkness. You can't even finish sipping your beer, people want you to go out the place. Keep them there for another hour or two, socializing, having fun, enjoying the good music, good company. The shoreline can never offer the same ambiance. But the problem in SK maybe that everybody is so money driven, I don't want to say 'money grabbing', that everything has to come with a price tag. But here is the GOOD news, no one of us will carry any money or talent, voice, skill, ability, or whatever with us when we go up to the Springfield cemetery, so it is far better to share the talent and time we have with our brothers and sister who will forever keep us in their hearts.
I think I have said my piece for today, maybe I will blog later this week if I am not busy.
Thanks for viewing the Facebook page linked to this blog. Thank you for sharing the page link and helping to put the "like" for the page over the hundred mark. The second largest contingent of viewers are in the USA, and later I will run some page stats here, just so we can know who and where the appreciation for the page comes from.
It is not looking like I will be streaming photos live from the streets for Carnival, and I am not stressing myself over it.
In case I don't get back here before 2014, enjoy the season, Happy Carnival, Merry Christmas, if you are a Christmas person, and may your Good Fortunes, Joy and Prosperity continue in 2014, I wish this for you and your family.
The photos in this blog made on 22 November 2013, Carnival Opening Day.
