professionalism on trial

Image
It is good that I have my blog to 'let off' every now and then. There now seems to be so much more wickedness, injustice and disrespect in the world these days. I thought the world was becoming a better place by the hour as the social scientists are working overtime to save the planet, but there are some 'elementals' who are running wild on the fresh turf, maybe quite oblivious to what is going on with regard to our survival on this planet, making war, not love and peace. On Facebook I see the "black" photographer from America is still taking his text out on the young "black and beautiful" female model from Jamaica. He seems rather proud that he can talk his mind, and tells it as he sees it, or more correctly, as he thinks he sees it. It gets to the point where one of his buddies, a photographer from Trinidad, jokingly refers to him as Jesus, but I can feel that he is not 101% behind his pal. I mean, how could the Trini back up his American buddy w

is it classless now?

Life is interesting and full of disrespect. I respect people for their viewpoint, because I understand that "one speaks out of the abundance of the heart". I think it is important to know that most utterances, social and otherwise, sometimes have nothing to do with ones education, training or level of personal development [up to a point]. All tipsy males hitting on females in some smoky back alley bar will basically be all alike in any form of, or attempt at dialog, whether he is a king, joker, preacher, rapper, scientist or CEO. It is the nature of humanity and there is nothing that we can do about that. In the Bible, KJV, Matthew 12:34 it is written "for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" . Those who make a study of this may tell you that everything that you say comes from the heart, as to how much conscious or subconscious control you have or can exert may not be up to you most of the times, but if you are a swami of sorts you may be able to

after dark and night photography

I am finally there, on the move to create pictures after dark and at night. After dark and at night are two entirely different things, but I am not going to get into that now, because the smart person in you can figure that out, but just in case you aren't so quick I may explain that later. I think the secret about shooting after dark is to let the dark meet you on the road. Getting out of your house, and going to some 'exotic' location, after it is already 'pitch black' [nothing to do with the movie] dark is for a particular type of image treatment and you can collect that anytime and almost every time without fail. These images are the easiest to deal with because if you don't get what you think you want, you go back the next night and try it again, not forgetting to use different EV numbers. I am not a professional photographer [one who does it for pay (sometimes leaving a lot to be desired)]  so I use the amateur photographer approach. [a] set camera to au

... it is May again

It is that time of year again when people will be on the street in their hundreds and maybe thousands. All the rage is now putting people on the street as though in a practice session for something big and beneficial, like giving Thanks. December saw hundreds on the street with Carnival activities. January saw thousands on the street with Election action, and it is expected that May will bring thousands to the streets again, irrespective of sun, rain or snow. It is Labour Day once again and anything and anyone to do with Labour will take to the streets, with a whole 24-hour day to create the visibility. Let me pause here for a moment to acknowledge the passing of my friend and co-worker for over 30-years, "small world", Mervin Hazel Esq., and express my sympathy and condolences to his wife and family. Mervin and I were both Senior Telecommunications Technicians and then Engineer/Managers with Cable and Wireless. I joined the staff of the Government Telephone Department in 1
