I am gonna jump ..
Greetings, Happy New Year, Welcome to my photo blog for 2017, never mind that we are closer to year end than beginning. I post pictures almost every day on Facebook but somehow scribing a few words here just slipped my mind. This should be a pretty active year but I will try to be brief and keep out of trouble. The only troublesome 'thing' in skn is politics, and I am keeping out of that. These days everything has a political flavour, but I am trying very hard not to be contaminated, maybe touched is a better word, so as to maintain my sanity.
Speaking of sanity, it appear to me that insanity is on the rise as more people get themselves involved in some aspect of politics. I would add 'that does not concern them', but many would disagree with that, as the feeling seem to be that everything about politics concerns everyone. I don't mean to sound insensitive, but I believe that we should let the politicians be themselves and do what they do best. I do not see us getting involved in lawyers and doctors story, so maybe we should not get into the politicians story either. Of course I could be very wrong about this, and this is just my opinion.
In my last blog I posted a link to Steve Harvey's 'jump' video. Very interesting. If you have not heard it yet, please take a listen. I hope that many more persons in our skn have jumped. I have jumped and been jumping for years, but this week it came to me that I should take a 2017 jump into something new, never tried before, so I am working on that. I know many people started to jump, but when you have more money than the rest of us, you can delay and postpone your jump. Some folks are just jumping to show others that they can jump. Whatever the reason or cause for the jump make it count for something every time.
So what's up with and in photography in our skn. Truthfully, I really don't know. I have lost contact with many local photographers. Facebook was our contact point and I am not seeing them like before. I see many photographers overseas because they post photography information regularly. Maybe our local photographers are not posting stuff like before, and a million reasons. I hope our local photographers are pushing themselves to the limit. The sky is no longer the limit.
Recently I saw a post from a photographer overseas suggesting that people should downgrade rather than upgrade their cameras, and hardware. He may have a point there, but that does not apply to us in St Kitts and Nevis, maybe to his Vietnam, but not us in the Caribbean. Not getting into any politics, but we have the mentality to get the latest and the best affordable. I really admire our youths, who tell me one day they are using a phone camera, and a couple week later that they have a real camera. We do not settle for anything, we settle for something better.
I believe that one of our local photographers should seek to be President Trump's photographer, so that he can get rid of the guys with discontinued cameras. Just image the President's photo taken by a discontinued camera and photographer. Shameful. I am sure that our Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition's photographs are taken with the latest cameras and technology on the market. This is how we steer in skn. No disrespect to President Trump or his photographers, they do a good job with what they use.
