.. another historical chapter today
History unfolds continuously, but those given to recording it pick and choose which fragments they perceive to be necessary for future applications. In these modern times we seem not to be given to looking to far into the future, it is like we live only in the present. That is good because it is what we do in the present that would determine our future, but it also creates the historical past that many of us would not wish to recall, never mind to relive, but it exists, and we took great pains to create it, and then try to justify it after a fashion, with expressions like "in hind sight".
Well today is just another day that will be recorded in history. Some people's names will also make it into the 'history books' because it is thought to be important that future generations know about this and subsequent events. But no matter what happens on the National scene one should try to impact their own personal history files every day by creating and making events that are life changing and as far reaching as they can possibly be, without being dramatic or melodramatic.
Well it is polling day in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis and it is coming up to poll opening time 6.00 am and I want to be early so I am out of here. The outdoor temperature is 72.5 degrees F, and to leave the inside warmth of 83.1 degrees F is not such a mind boggling thought, because it is imperative that one perform their civic duty, without fear or favour.
Today I plan to make history too, because I have never taken pictures on any polling day before and I have witnessed some 8 or so national election campaigns. I don't know what I am going to capture, but when the images present themselves I will know and let my fingers do the squeezing and my blog can continue later with a few interesting snapshots.
Tomorrow is going to be another day and a public holiday for celebrating the victorious, and maybe the rest of the week too, but we just have to wait and see what prize or surprise the voters will seek this time around.
Have a great day, and if you ever have an opportunity to vote for anything, take it, because there are some folks on the planet who can't and never will, and how they wish they could. Some of us just don't know and appreciate how very fortunate we are.
See you in a bit.
