You ready?
Ready or not 14 is going out and 15 is coming in. Like how day follows night, naturally.
For some of us the roll over may come as a surprise, when we awake to recognise that there are new parameters that affect life and living in our skn. Many of us are not paying attention to the right things, and some of us are following our friends in their own particular direction. It is incumbent upon us to think for ourselves, let no one translate and interpret for us, let your own spirit be your guide, it has never led anyone down the wrong path yet.
Christmas is gone, 2014 is gone in a few hours time, and carnival will follow in a couple days.
But the excitement in SKN may be just beginning for some folks, as people take each other to the courts to question issues, matters and things, as far reaching as our Federation's constitution. These court events of themselves do not produce any exciting imagery, but the fallout, results and responses sometimes do. In any event a general election is due, from as early as next week to as late as some time in June, so I hear.
General elections come with a certain element and spirit like Carnival. I have seen its manifestations over the years from my photo journalistic viewpoint. It is said that this upcoming election will be a BIG one, the keenest contested election ever in the history of St Kitts and Nevis. But we have to wait and see.
In the meantime life continues as normal. Nevis featured well in the National Carnival. I was backing Ms Nevis for National Carnival Queen and she made it into the 1st Runner up position. So she is off to represent St Kitts and Nevis at some International functions. The National Calpyso King now hails from Nevis. Nevis is accustomed to being in the forefront of things Federal. There has always been a Minister in Cabinet who was born in NEVIS. From the earliest of times St Kitts and Nevis always partnered in the Federal responsibility, and when it was time for a National Hero, there was Sir Joseph N. France K.C.M.G., C.B.E.a born and bread Nevisian.
The upcoming elections in 2015 will determine if St Kitts and Nevis continue to climb. There is a new breed of people who would have us believe that is talk make things happen, but in SKN we have come to know for a fact that it is ACTION that make our progress real, just take a look at Kittitian Hill. More action less talk.
So, until next week, next year, keep the peace, be safe, continue to prosper in our thrice blessed St Kitts and Nevis.
