Friday afternoon roadside advert on my street January almost half gone, and I am just getting here  ... Happy New Year. Sugar Mas 48 was a big surprise and it caught me off guard. We plan for things because we believe that we know, but we cannot take all the variables into consideration, because there is always that one unknown elusive factor, which holds the key to the result that we expect. In time we learn to live with the results, unfortunately, some of us never learn to re-adjust our mentality to suit the new environment. But SKB is a place where the impossible does not exist for all those of the correct mindset. After today there are 67 days remaining in this year. No one is certain that they will see tomorrow, but with FAITH in GOD and a HOPE for a long LIFE we plan for the future with a certain degree of reckless abandon. We all need to take a moment to consider our every action, especially the effect on each other. Knocking ourself about is okay, if that brings us joy, but indiscriminately sharing that kind of joy to our neighbour should not be your prime focus. Unfortunately, some neighbours agree that is the correct approach for this new age we live in, and insist on foisting this new attitude upon the rest of us. February 16th ushered in a new wave.  All change is good, but you can't tell that to some folks, of course we know why. After 30 days I am able to capture on film some of the environmental changes that to my mind should have taken place a very long time ago. I do not wish to get into any politics, suffice to say that with this change, it appears to me that some folks have recommitted to being the best employee they can be, without the need for any additional salary. My Saturday afternoon walk took me  up the hill to the R.L.Bradshaw International Airport, and for the first time in years, to be exact, the first time since the bypass road was constructed that I can really appreciate the landscape. Many 'things' received their head recently. skn is finally in election mode. The 6th and 16th are expected to be historic days. All days are historic as long as you can talk about it. Yesterday was an historic day, as was the day before. The 17th will be an historic day and our skn will continue to be a better place. It is not us who have placed skn where it is, and with or without us, skn will continue to prosper, and our people will have the greatest of health if they would only follow the principles of nature for longevity. As to photography in this 'crazy' time of electioneering campaigns, which rival and even outdo carnival in many respects, I suspect the focus can be an aspect of 'candid portraiture', as some participants will display uncontrolled emotions at various times in the lifetime of the campaign. Peace has finally been restored to our land of beauty, as we take a break before moving on to the next level.. We always had 'traditional' peace here, but it seems to me that for the last couple years some people tried to implement their brand of peace, probably in order to create a new skn environment. All that is now history, and skn goes into yet another history generating phase. I am of the view that EVERYTHING that has taken place, is taking place and will take place in our twin island Federation will impact our Caribbean and the world at large in ways we cannot begin to comprehend or imagine. This is not the first time nor will it be the last. 50,000 thousand people, 100 square miles, year 2015, 2020, 2025. 8-4-9-5.  I am getting to like the EOS-70D camera, being lighter than the EOS-7D, but whenever I feel a spray and see rain I have to scramble for a plastic bag. It is not water proof like the EOS-7D. I will get around to movies if and when it becomes necessary...

We are now into the season for picture making. Some of us are looking forward to see the most outrageous of performances again this year, but I suppose most of us would expect to see more composed participation. The calypso says that it is either in the water or the food, but I verily believe that our local brew and beverage water products could most certainly be a party to the actions. In SK we are FREE to drink as we like. All the products are made in SKB with the best water in the world, and you can't get anything better than that. I see movements which people say are election moves. Election can be next week and there is nothing we can do about that. I am of the view that whether it is early or late, it is done in the public interest, which is always better late than never.
