skb day 31 JUMP...

This picture of the Anthem Of The Seas was made from under my moringa tree in the side yard, 108-feet ASL up on the hillside, overlooking Port Zante and the Caribbean Sea. This could be just shy of a mile from Port Zante, as the crow flies. Today I am walking about with a Canon EOS-70D equipped with an ef-s 18-200mm IS lens.  You might find it interesting to know what  http://www.dxomark.com revealed about this lens and all the other lenses and cameras that they tested over the years. Please keep in mind that Information is only beneficial when it is used intelligently. Please be 'guided' accordingly. We have reached the end of 01/2016, month one in 2016, rather quickly it seems. How are you doing with your new year resolutions, plans, or whatever you call them? In particular, those that pertain to any aspects of photography and imaging? I expect that some of us are in the hold position, because that is what plenty of us like to do, and then we are forced to carry over ...

This seems to be the action word for 2016. Everyone seem to feel that all aspect of life and living are picking up speed, or maybe more correctly, have picked up speed. Time just goes by so quickly, before you turn around, it is gone. I am no expert on time, but I do not believe that some things, like time can change on us just like that. 60 seconds will always be one minute, and 60 minutes will always be one hour. So how is it that you cannot now complete the same task in the same time as before? According to my scientist cousin Tony, is it that we are slowing down? What other answer is there? It sounds logical, that we get slower as we get older. That is why Bolt will not be forever the fastest man in the world. But that is an extreme case, and maybe a bad example. In a different area, this slowing down is upsetting, and causes stress, and breeds violence. Young people are not willing to tolerate the natural process of the slowing down of older people in service delivery. The...

After today there are 67 days remaining in this year. No one is certain that they will see tomorrow, but with FAITH in GOD and a HOPE for a long LIFE we plan for the future with a certain degree of reckless abandon. We all need to take a moment to consider our every action, especially the effect on each other. Knocking ourself about is okay, if that brings us joy, but indiscriminately sharing that kind of joy to our neighbour should not be your prime focus. Unfortunately, some neighbours agree that is the correct approach for this new age we live in, and insist on foisting this new attitude upon the rest of us. Fortunately, some people say that we deserve better, but in this world it is not about saying so, but doing so, putting our mouth into gear, and also our hands if necessary.  If you know where I am coming from, I am happy for you. SKN is one of the best places in the world to live, anytime. There is a formula to live by, and it works in every country on the planet. Pe...

Independence 32 is here ... next week. I was expecting to hear and see ground breaking changes to the 'routines' surrounding this annual celebration.  Maybe it is just me, but I really expected some spectacular things for Independence 32, that would put last year's 31 in the shade. However, I am hopeful that Independence 33 will be the best year ever, given its 12 months of planning rather than 6. Independence provides many picture taking opportunities for residents and visitors, but it seems to me that only a few persons recognize this. The average resident is not wasting any photo memory in recording these historic national events for any reason at all. I have gone pass trying to figure this out, and leave this one for the social scientists. Ten thousand persons attended the Independence Parade. Everybody had a camera of some sort, but only the official photographers and a handful of enthusiastic viewers sought to capture images of the 'once in a lifetim...

skb day 220

I was recently invaded by a troupe of monkeys after sunset. I suspect that some of them needed a dinner snack. I captured a few moments which some FB viewers rather liked. This 'maternal' happens in all species, but some are better at it than others. However, when it comes to food and the distribution of food that is a whole different story. We have to get the monkeys to learn that a mango is green today but will be ripe tomorrow, so leave it on the tree to ripen, and come back the next day. And all of us will live happily ever after. I am told that monkeys are smart and trainable. Maybe we need more researchers, but we can't wait another 25 year. We need a fast fix now. But if 'now' is not a reality, we need to fast forward to 'plan B'. I am continuing my research into electronic interacting with monkeys that invade my property. They are attracted to action videos. These are some hot days. The peak of our hurricane activity period in a few days and no ...

skb day 81

February 16th ushered in a new wave.  All change is good, but you can't tell that to some folks, of course we know why. After 30 days I am able to capture on film some of the environmental changes that to my mind should have taken place a very long time ago. I do not wish to get into any politics, suffice to say that with this change, it appears to me that some folks have recommitted to being the best employee they can be, without the need for any additional salary. My Saturday afternoon walk took me  up the hill to the R.L.Bradshaw International Airport, and for the first time in years, to be exact, the first time since the bypass road was constructed that I can really appreciate the landscape. It appear that we are finally getting to where we should have been years ago. But then, there is the saying that "nothing happens before its time", and some of us believe that to be true. Many things are happening in our little skn, like the sudden increase in crime an...

53 more days?

A quiet week as we prepare for Carnival, Christmas, 2015 .. and elections too.  The judge feels that two week after the revelry ends is the time to give the matter attention. Well, she is in charge, and everybody have plenty time to get ready. The radio DJ said that the PM riddle date is falling on the day after the birth date, which happens to be five days earlier than the judge's date. A lot of numbers are playing. Question is, who is going to win? Everybody running things. Or more correctly, running their own thing. People have a way of forgetting that there is a Supreme One, the Master, the Creator, GOD. I need not say anything else. If you don't know or don't believe it is a matter for you. We will see how this "matter" pans out in time to come. This past week was quiet, not devoid of the usual last days events, and excitement which follow these events. Wickedness and injustice continue to run wild in the world. It is not that we did not know, but some o...

E-date riddle

Image
I hear we have an election date riddle. I heard a popular DJ translate the riddle date to a time in January 2015, the day after I celebrate my birth date. I am in things. But the election date is a secret, even onto the owner, so nobody may be taking on this early pronouncement. Historically, if you are in the know, you may get an inkling hours before the official announcement. I guess this riddle is part of the seasonal cheer, to bring joy to some people. Of course there are some other people who are far from happy with the ultimate reality more like fallout from the riddle, and it is up to us to help them over any despondency. This is the season for joy and merriment whether election is upon us in 60 days or not. Carnival begins in SKN tomorrow. I guess everything is in order on the inside, so we wait and see what the changes are for sugar mas 43. We expect the changes to be for the betterment of Carnival. I can't image where the new parade route is, that would allow an incr...
