Carnival 50.

Image
I was begining to look out for CARNIVAL 50, even though it was not going to be anything like what we have grown accustomed to over the years, but it would be something rather than nothing, but now the people in charge are putting certain "things" on pause because another "strain" is supposedly on the loose. I do not have any problem with cancelling anything, and changing plans and programs in the public interest, because we should expect this action from people who are trying their very best to err on the side of caution, and to keep our nation safe. However, nothing has been said yet about the possible effects of the "strain"on our CARNIVAL 50 which is running in de bubble. It is very strange that this or similar action did not apply to the International Cricket hosted in SKB just  months ago, where our safety was tried, tested and proven with a real community spread in the thousands, during the tournament period, but evasive action is already put in pla...

Quarter 4 update

Image
The beach outside the Public Market in Basseterre Bay.  I can live with this, and only hope that the person who maintains this piece of real estate is given all the support to keep the maintenance engine running. In days of old the strategy was to start fast, look good, and when people have gotten accustomed to the idea, subtly drop the ball, and we allowed them to work that one on us. Those days are now behind us, but some peole never learn, and still try to take us back into the dark ages. How can you convince those of us who born in electric lights, that it is better to use lamp. I tell you that some of them politicians crazy, or is it that they have a plan, and working on something to try put pon us? This is the photo blog, but we will look at a little politics in the wordpress blog later. In the last 12 months it seems that photography has gotten worse for some folks, but others seem to have discovered their missing link. Photography is like food and water, which we need ...

Quarter 3 update

Liverpool Row, Basseterre, St Kitts It is a beautiful day in skb. Just had breakfast, one helping of oats with two bananas, raisins and cinnamon, sweetened by honey and sprinkled with Moringa powder food supplement. As you may know I eat my Moringa food supplement every day, except on Sunday. Friends tell me that a person has to fast at least one day in the week. And it seems to be working for me. While I am on the topic of Moringa, let me say emphatically, that I would not be walking around today without the help of Moringa, grown in SKB and created by GOD. I see many of my friends, associates, and haters,   who I believe could benefit from the LIFE giving quality of Moringa.   I must always thank my neighbour Eudora for bringing Moringa to my attention. You don't have to wait until you feel sick, take your Moringa daily, and don't leave home without it. SKN is doing great. We have been through Independence 35 and the storms have passed down south. SKN continue ...

skb day 298

Image
After today there are 67 days remaining in this year. No one is certain that they will see tomorrow, but with FAITH in GOD and a HOPE for a long LIFE we plan for the future with a certain degree of reckless abandon. We all need to take a moment to consider our every action, especially the effect on each other. Knocking ourself about is okay, if that brings us joy, but indiscriminately sharing that kind of joy to our neighbour should not be your prime focus. Unfortunately, some neighbours agree that is the correct approach for this new age we live in, and insist on foisting this new attitude upon the rest of us. Fortunately, some people say that we deserve better, but in this world it is not about saying so, but doing so, putting our mouth into gear, and also our hands if necessary.  If you know where I am coming from, I am happy for you. SKN is one of the best places in the world to live, anytime. There is a formula to live by, and it works in every country on the planet. Pe...

skb day 105

Image
Before I roll out today let me take a minute to update my blog. Yesterday afternoon as I stepped out onto my gallery, I was greeted by "the national weapons of mass destruction", a couple of lovable vervet monkeys on the wall across the street eating a mango. I just hope it was the first mango picked, bitten and liked. This mango season we will again hear the cries from fruit tree owners as these "weapons of mass destruction" make life difficult for some of us in their bid to continue surviving in fertile Liamuiga. I am of the view that it is time we send the monkey back to their homeland. They were brought here for a purpose which has since expired, and since they no longer serve that purpose, and we no longer need them here send them back home. I hope today is a monkey free day for me. In a recent video documentary they claimed that there are more monkeys than people in our islands. I do not believe that it is too late for us to do something about the e...

skb day 5

Day 5, and what are we looking forward to? Some of us are still locked into party mode, It is a Caribbean thing, and no we are not giving up on it easy. But whatever the mode, we have developed the ability to work just as hard the day after as though nothing happened.  It is just the flexibility of our people. Work hard. Party harder. From the hits and likes on Facebook pictures we can detect some future trends, not that anything is under threat, but some changes, or maybe more like additions, could be in our future activities. Variety. Not that it matters, because when we are having a good time, it can only get better. The food vendor this year did not skimp on anything. Everything you could ever want was provided. Our oriental visitors still have to drink what we drink and eat what we eat, unless they brought their our private stash of delicacies and concoctions. So now the merriment is on pause for the next few weeks as we recuperate from Carni...

You ready?

Image
Ready or not 14 is going out and 15 is coming in. Like how day follows night, naturally. For some of us the roll over may come as a surprise, when we awake to recognise that there are new parameters that affect life and living in our skn. Many of us are not paying attention to the right things, and some of us are following our friends in their own particular direction. It is incumbent upon us to think for ourselves, let no one translate and interpret for us, let your own spirit be your guide, it has never led anyone down the wrong path yet. Christmas is gone, 2014 is gone in a few hours time, and carnival will follow in a couple days. But the excitement in SKN may be just beginning for some folks, as people take each other to the courts to question issues, matters and things, as far reaching as our Federation's constitution. These court events of themselves do not produce any exciting imagery, but the fallout, results and responses sometimes do. In any event a general elect...

Gone in 21 days

Image
We are now into the season for picture making. Some of us are looking forward to see the most outrageous of performances again this year, but I suppose most of us would expect to see more composed participation. The calypso says that it is either in the water or the food, but I verily believe that our local brew and beverage water products could most certainly be a party to the actions. In SK we are FREE to drink as we like. All the products are made in SKB with the best water in the world, and you can't get anything better than that. I see movements which people say are election moves. Election can be next week and there is nothing we can do about that. I am of the view that whether it is early or late, it is done in the public interest, which is always better late than never. Of course there are some things which [in my view] are outstanding and overdue, but the people who are making most and many noises are both blind and dumb, and given to dishonesty. I now consider that t...
