Now this instagram access puts me in a spot, in that I have to relook at my photography. This does not affect what I do on other platforms, but I have to give this some thought and see where we go from here. This pandemic has changed everything for many if not all of us. The country is wide open again, but the popo still locking up people for opening up. Anyway this is St Christopher, at it only happens here.Only in Saint Christopher. Nevertheless we are all happy to call here home. We are seeing many new things in our skb, and some of them may just find itself in an instagram image. I wonder if this instagram platform is in the same boat with Facebook? community standards? are they ganging up on us?
I have to spend the next few days learning about instagram, and I could do with a coach right about now, and I know just the person for that. Actually, persons, because I can't create any potential rift between good folks. People are so touchy these days. You watch a man pet dog to hard, and he wants to sue you for possible visual damage to the pet. And there are solicitors who will take that case. This is the world that we now live in, and the "new normal" that we are working overtime to create after the global health crisis seem to really justify a "NEW NORMAL" that we have never seen before, nor will ever see again.
Many things may be affected by the global crise, but I do not think that "photography" is in any way impacted, but the established protocols will determine how photography, as we knew it, is to be dispensed, how human beings are supposed to function with other human beings, in every area of the business. In reality this only apply to images for public consumption. People will always do what they want to do in private. Ths may place some photographers under undue strain, stress and pressure, but if you are a photographer who "follow the money" that should not present any kind of burden.
I have no idea how photographers are faring in this new environment. The pandemic should not have taken them out. I see one or two photographers still posting images to the platforms that I visit, but many other photographers seem to be MIA or AWOL. I am of the view that everything will return to normal, after a while. Many folks are not back to work as yet. Some may not see work for a long time to come, because of the extremely harsh government policy and requirements. What plans and programs are photographers implementing that would allow people, their past clients, with no income or significantly reduced income to avail themselves of photographic services? People should never be forced to deprive themselves of making an image or two when they desire to do so. Photographers need to create a system that allow people [families] to take their pictures at anytime. The time is now.
My favorite camera maker, Canon, has finally gone full time mirrorless and discontinued almost everything DSLR, cameras and lenses. Canon users like me are happy because Canon has allowed all the EF and EFS lenses for the DSLRs to be used with their mirrorless system. The mirrorless camera body mount is different but a relatively inexpensive adapter makes the difference. Canon also has the usual unbeatable top of the line professional camera, made for professional use under any condition and the cost is still the same. Anyone in the market for a new camera should get a Canon mirrorless.
All Canon portrait photographers need to upgrade from there DSLR to a Canon mirrorless and take their portrait photography to another level. The new mirrorless digital technology does what the DSLR technology cannot. I know that in the recent past, professional Nikon users were jumping at the Canon cameras for professional features, but I have not looked to see if they are now jumpng again at the Canon mirrorless technology. Whatever is your camera need, Canon has a mirrorless camera just for you.
